What a season we had. Our regular season champs, Michael Dukakis and the Cultural Warriors, set a new regular season record of 212 pts. As they chased the magic number of 200, we here at QD headquarters (a damp corner in our parents basement) questioned whether we should cap points. The verdict is in: IF IT AINT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT. Hats off to you MDatCW, you put on a stellar performance this season. Please have 215 $1 beers on us.

Also finishing in the money...keep those hands going for our TOP 5 and their prizes!

2.The Beer Hunters (125 items from the dollar menu)
3. McKids (85 gifts from the dollar tree)
4. The Lone Rangers (65 extra items on your next medium pizza)
5. Tony Danza is my Constant (45 downloads from iTunes)

Congrats to all, the league team will be contacting you shortly to make payout arrangements!

So now, we move on to the big stage, the main event, the grandest of occasions, the Van-Damme-in-the-movie-kickboxer of contests...THE...drumroll...QUIZZO CUP PLAYOFFS! One Team, One Cup, $540 BIG ONES!

take time to read the rules, check dates, check back between matches for updates and talk smack RIGHT HERE ON THIS THREAD. In just under 2 weeks we will be engraving some names on a cup that contains the names of only the greatest in the sport. Good luck and thanks for playing the game that is most commonly mistaken for a baked sub shop!

Round one predictions.

Left side bracket:
1 vs WC1 Winner: MDatCW (note, if they play City Park, this gets a little interesting)

8 v 9 Winner: Black Market Babies

6 vs 11 Winner: MLRO by 1pt This will be a tough match up

3 vs 14 Winner: Penguins

Right Side bracket:
2 vs 15 Winner: Whoever the WC 2 winner is

7 vs 10 Winner: OJ Bronco

5 vs 12 Winner: Tony Danza ONLY because I know the Puppets can't make it due to work schedule conflict. If they do show they won't have their A-team.

4 vs 13 Winner: Lone Rangers

Well it wouldn't be playoff time without a little friendly smack talk. While I don't have predictions for the rest of the first round matchups, I can say this about the 14 seed Penguins in Toasters- We made it to the final four last year where we were taken down by OJ and his broncos. Everyone knows that OJ got away with it once but this time there is no ill fitting glove to save him.

As far as our first round match against McKids, while they seem like a nice enough team the playoffs are no place for children. So after Wednesday we will be sending the kids to bed early as we advance to the 2nd round.

Enter Mikey to STIR THE POT:

Did I mention that BOB is a member of the Beer Hunters? If you guys aren't familiar with BOB let me help you remember. He is the guy who shows up ALONE at Shores Inn on a Monday night and takes 1st place in a field of 18 teams. For this reason, while I am not making an official pick, I am calling the Beer Hunters the DARK HORSE in this seasons tournament.

The #20 and #24 overall seeds advanced from the Wild Card Round this evening. Congrats!

St Clair Shores Crime Syndicate will play The Beer Hunters

What Can Brown Do for You will Play Michael Dukakis and the Cultural Warriors

Inside Scoop: St. Clair Shores Crime Syndicate, formerly known as Boatweiser, already have a Quizzo Cup under their belt. This means that all 3 past cup champions are now in the mix. This is going to be a playoffs to remember. It will be hard to top last seasons finals but a 24 team, single elimination tournament has a tendency to produce amazing results.

The Murder Machine vs OJ.

Two murders enter, one murder will leave.

I know one has a get away car.

The Bronco rolls tonight.

6-2 with my picks. And the two losses were the ones that I knew were going to be a coin flip.

Congrats. See you next week.

Round 2 Winner predictions

Leftside:
MDatCW
Otters

Rightside:
SCSCS vs OJ - coin flip
Lone Rangers

If these are the last four teams, all are outstanding and are playing to their potential.

As much as I respect the Juice, I think his opinion here is a bit off. Those Otters, even with their bonus raccoon, are a formidable foe no doubt, but Penguins in Toasters are battle tested. They reached the final 4 last season, and earned an outright victory over the entire field (including the otters) in their round one matchup. This isn't a team to be overlooked.

If Happy Puppets and OJ both win tomorrow. They will face each other in the semis at their home bar. That would be pretty epic.

While crime doesn't pay, tonight the featured match contains the worst of the worst.

Past Champs. Hated and feared by all.

Just remember, OJ didn't need an entire Syndicate to pull off his caper. (Though the theft of his own Heisman probably could have been better thought out)

Tonight the Syndicate sleeps with the fish flys.
